Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is one of the fastest growing and densely populated cities in the world with a density of around 45,000 per square kilometer. Population growth and rapid urbanization are creating concerns around food security, food safety, and nutrition. The food regulatory system in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area (DMA) is complex and has interest for 16 Ministries and 40 government departments. This website aims to support the Government of Bangladesh at multiple levels and ensure the engagement of the private sector and civil society to develop an appropriate food agenda for the DMA. It will build urban food planning capacity and skills as well as explore policy options to improve access to and distribution of safe, healthy, and nutritious food.
